    Default Military slang

My time was the late sixties. Here are some I remember, many from boot camp. Got any?

    Boot- recruit
    pogey bait- cookies, candy, sweets.
    shitbird- Any boot. A f*ckup.
    grunt, groundpounder- infantryman.
    slopshoot- local bar.
    spliv-A black Marine
    chuck-A white Marine.
    gooks, zips, zipperheads-Any Vietmanese person.
    Pussy run-trip to the whorehouse.
Maggies drawers- A complete miss at the rifle range.
gun- penis. In boot camp, if you called your rifle a gun, you had to jog around the squadbay with your rifle in one hand and pecker in the other singing "This is my rifle, this is my gun, this is for killing, this is for fun".
In the rear with the gear- out of the bush.
click-windage and elevation. Or artillery or airplane distance adjustment. Or distance to the vil.
    Vill-village
    Joy juice-alcohol.
Blanket party- The way to deal with a boot screwing it up for the rest. Throw blanket on him while sleeping and hit with bars of soap in your sock. Encouraged phsychological tactic to build team spirit or eliminate person from team. Worked sometimes.
    The shit-combat.
Bam- broad ass Marine (woman Marine)
Huey- the main troop transport chopper deivering to and collecting Marines from the shit.
Comrade- any Marine, past, present or future.

    All I remember.

Not sure if it's an acronym or not. I went in with a friend on the "buddy system" and he didn't make it. AKA Baby Blue Marine.
Back Alley was born in Vietnam it's a combination of Hearts, Spades. Starts with 13 cards dealt on the first hand 12 cards on the next 11 and so on to 1 card. Then another one card then 2 and back to 13 cars. Then the winner is the one with the highest points. The strategy changes because of the number of cards dealt on each hand. A suit may also be trump.
