    Default just getting going

I have been lurking here for about 10 months. As I just started saltwater fishing and my successes have been few, so after a good day on 8/31, I figured I should contribute and post. We jigged using gulp in, near and off sandy hook and caught some fluke. With one 6ílb 8oz and another 5lbs4oz. (these are actual weights, Iím new to saltwater fishing, but know fisherman). This was my 4rth trip out for fluke, 2 trips just caught shorts, 3rd caught 3 keepers and this was 4rth trip for fluke. I went a few times last year and had one good day with limiting out with one fish @ 5lbs. I went twice (on my boat) for stripers earlier this year and got blue fish only and the blues from reading this forum and talking to friends about all the fish being caught.

Welcome to the Barn! Nice effort and nice fish. Glad to see there is another salt water addict among us.

thanks for all the kind responses. Buying and using a boat has been the best thing I have done in years for family, friends and fun.... just increases my desire to retire and my inabilty to do it.

Only 2nd year with boat. As you can see it's a bow rider, which is not as bad as all you die hard fisherman think. A long handled brush & hose is always at hand and all 'crew' is reminded to be very mindful of hooks- repeatedly. I wanted a new boat and the only way to get the admiral to agree was something a little less austere then a straight up center console fishing boat. This was cheaper than a divorce and whole lot more useful.

You better delete this message before it gets back to the "admiral"
