Default Summer Flounder - 3 at 18" 105 day season?

Reading on another board that the appeal was tabled with a 17-0 vote and then NJ was found out of compliance with a 12-4 vote. Looks like maybe some sort of deal was worked out.

That's better than 3 at 19" but it still sucks. Even worse is the fall sea bass season bag limit is being reduced from 15 fish to 5 fish. WTF???

I don't fish that often but this year I'm keeping what I catch. Time to raise the pirate flag. The state and the Feds have displayed so clearly they have no clue what they are doing. Come and get me...

I'm reading somewhere else that 3 @ 18 was turned down? So now NJ pretty much has to agree to 3 @ 19 or be out of compliance.

EDIT: It wasnt turned down. The motion that passed was the NJ either has to implement 3 @ 19 with 128 day season or 3 @ 18 with 104 day season. This motion has to be approved by a technical committee next week. If they don't approve it, then everything is up in the air.

    Next week's vote is pro forma. It's a done deal at 3 @ 18".

    Poaching is never cool.

Haha ! I'd definitely be tempted to keep outside the limit.....BUT on the other hand, it gives me an excuse to go out and fish the next day.

so my question is - if they raised the drinking age to 65 would you give up beer? Hypothetical I know but it's only poaching because they created some unrealistic guideline. Is it really wrong to filet a 17.5 " fish that is gut hooked and will float to the bottom dead? At some point enough is enough. I sleep fine with the decisions I make and I think I'm realistic. That's just me.

two years ago I caught 100, 17.5 fluke in the intercoastal in Great Bay. 126 to 139 buoys. All of these fish had plenty of meat to be keepers!! Its not fair to these short fluke to die because many people are guilty of mishandling!! By the way I have two flags on my boat, one is the pirate flag!!!

Your are certainly not alone in that opinion. The regulations have killed so much of the industry already. I wonder how exactly it will be enforced if NJ goes out of compliance anyway. Are the feds going to hire a bunch more Coast Guard to catch poachers? Please.
