For the guys in the back..... hit the light lines in Stealth Mode in the back Saturday night from about Midnight to the end of the incoming at 5:00 AM'ish.......
We lost count..... but around 50'ish on plastics with jigheads and plugs would not be exaggerating between two of us who dared brave the cold....
Ice on the boat...... no Channel Markers and haven't put a Chart Plotter on the skiff yet..... so had to Navigate around by memory with the spotlight..... but we got her done.... lot's of Rod Bending ACTION with 'Keepers' for both of us.... lotta' smaller fish up to 25 inches on one spot..... but the bigger Fish were holed up in our second spot after we moved to finish out the Tide.....
NOT SURE if I'm done just yet...... we'll see what the Wind and Temps do...... OH.... water temps were 38 and up to 43 by the tail end of the incoming....
That is a great night but you should a GPS out there without markers. Easy to end up in the shallows and that could make for an even colder night. I will give you credit for determination. I'm surprised they were that active with the water temps you were reading.
I only stayed with what I knew...... zig-zagged the Channel from launch to the fist spot..... same thing back through to the second spot..... had to keep my eyes on the Sod bank and DID cut the Flat a bit...... moved to the North about 100 yards and managed to scoot on across and hit the Channel for the ride up to the second spot.....
No problems coming back as I paid close attention to lights on land and only made moves when I had it lined-up......
I was kinda' shocked as well that the amount of fish out there were actually still popping here and there..... I had went for Eels but 24-7 was closed...... GLAD I saved the $$$ on that one.... didn't need 'em....
Was a SERIOUS low tide....... the ramp we launched from...... first time ever the trailer dropped off the end of the concrete...... so I knew the Flats would be EXTRA 'Flat' should we have not been able to stay over the Channel.....
I only have a 17ft cc so I still have to pick and chose my days but I with you just got mojo's this year to and I'm a mojo believer I did good the week of thanksgiving got a few nice fish around 30lbs but nothing since with work I didn't get out as much as I wanted but those guys up north do get a lot more of season I'm thinking I'm gonna trailer up there next year if the weather and wind give me some nice days
I know that it's not over yet because my brother sent me a pic that his friends sent him today. They crushed them in the del bay. Big fish too. And the really irritating news is, they have no idea what they were doing. They just bought a boat because they liked fishing, and just went fishing.
Nice. I'm in CMC. It's been deader then a door nail on the beach. Still fish up there? I'll keep my rod and gear in the truck for a while yet. Because... You just ever know...
