It was one of those days it will put a smile on your face just thinking about it for a long time to come. Mark (reel lover), Don H. Jeff and I got off to a late start because I had stomach problems. We left the inlet around 8 am and headed North looking for bunker. After chasing bunker for a few minutes, I told the guys it was lines in, I could not run over so many fish. So in went the stretch 25s. First the hook up was Jeff, with a 14 lb blue fish, next up was Don H. with a 26 lb 36 in. strip bass, next up was Mark and he caught another large blue fish. When he hooked up Jeff had been trolling a subsurface lure and hooked up also. Whatever he caught was pulling line fast so Don and I started clearing lines by the time we got the lines cleared and Mark landed his fish Jeff was almost spooled. I could see there was only a couple of wraps of line left so I threw the boat in reverse and chased it down he was only using a light action set up. He ended up landing a 31 lb 44 inch strip bass that was straighening the hooks on the lure then it was my turn. I caught a 25 lb 38 in striped bass. Then the bass seemed to shut off and the rest of the day were huge blue fish. On the way in right at the mouth of the inlet, we came across a hugh pack of birds working so we started throwing buck tails and poppers and loaded the boat with about 15 snapper blues. What a way to end the day. The tally for the day was 3 bass, about 45 large blue fish and God knows how many snapper blues. It was one of the best days in the water in a long time.
