I have 2 surf kayaks that we use for the ocean and I have fished in the ocean just drifting. It is a paddle kayak about 8-9 feet long and Im looking to hook it up for bay fishing. Is there an anchor system i could buy and use for this type of kayak and rod holders that i could hook up and if so where around ocean city can I find them. Also, what techniques are used to get fish off because I've only caught small blues and it was a real pain in the butt getting them off. Also, what do you do with a bigboy hook up such as something like a 15-20 lb striper. Seems to me it would be very difficult to get that boy up. Also where do you put any keepers. Do you string them off the side or is there something else you do. Thanks

I never anchor, but there are small folding anchors like thishttp://www.kayakfishinggear.com/ProductImages/3.5-anchor-open-tn.jpg Probably the smallest rod holder mount is the compact from Scotty like this http://www.kayakfishinggear.com/ProductImages/Scotty-Compact-Flush-Decktn.jpg that holds a Scotty rod holder like this. http://www.kayakfishinggear.com/ProductImages/Scotty-Powerlock-Rodtn.jpg

I never bring a blue into the yak. I just use pliers to take them off. If it is a bigger blue then I use a lip grip to hold them while I use pliers to take them off.

Nah they slide right in. I put my keepers, stripers and fluke in a mesh bag. They come with a folding metal opening so they can double as a landing net. There are also stringers and insulated bags that you can use.

First thing I do is call Barrell and see if he has what I want. Then if not, I go online to KayakFishingGear.

so an anchor really isn't necessary. And does that bad stay of the yak or does it hang over. Thanks for the info

I have an insulated fish bag that I keep in the front hatch. I usually keep the fish in my lap and paddle to land to put the fish in the bag then the hatch. I've done it on the water, but it's hairy.

Some people put their fish on a stringer, but I'd be afraid of a shark getting to it.

There's a great site just for kayak fishing, send me a PM and I'll send you the link.

Gman , I sent you an email the answeres to you questions can vary depending on the situation. One thing I do prefer is to drift rather than anchor. You will cover more ground and have abetter chance of stumbling on a real hot spot.
