well, not necessarily with wire, but does anybody here power jig for stripers or blues come spring or fall runs? This is something I have only ever seen done up at school in and around cape cod bay. I've just never seen or heard anybody do it around here. Basically it's using big heavy bucktails, trolling at around 4-6kts, and bouncing it real fast along the bottom. Using wire makes it a lot easier to keep it on the bottom, but I have used my pole rigged with powerpro and it gets down there fine with a 9" sluggo with 4oz leadhead. We absolutely nail 30"-45" stripers more frequently that with any other type of fishing. Does anybody do this around here and is it productive?

Ive snapped parachutes everywhere from mass to virginia beach and it always produces lots of fish. Not the most fun way to fish but definately catches
I've done it while on vacation up at Cape Cape on the deep water rips off Monomoy and Nantucket. We back-troll to to rip lines with about 200ft of wire line and big bucktails topped with pork rinds. It gets the jig nice and deep and consistently produces big bass for us, but man is it exhausting. All that wire line gets really heavy when you're jigging the rod back and forth, then when you hook a big bass, you have to reel her in some 200ft against the ripping current. I already have this years trip booked for August 14th out of Harwichport, MA., can't wait to get up there.

yes, it definatly is exhausting, you have to jig very fast and consistent. Soon as it seems you get into a groove of good bounces, WHAM!!! i'm not a fan of wire fishing, but man does it work.
