I just got my first kayak this past week and looking for advice where to launch/fish. I have been putting it in across from Mill Creek Marina and the gnats are winning this one.
If anyone in the area can help or wouldn't mind some company please post.
Thanks in advance,
Chad

Nothing up your nose. Nothing in your mouth. Nothing in your hair or ears. $10.

Lost a Rod--- What is the best way to launch under the 1.00 dollar bridge,on the Lund's side or the other side of the road by the clam plant?

Not a kayak guy although the idea is appealling. I would launch from the crest side of the 2 mile bridge. Park at base of the bridge with your flashers on (no parking zone but the police are not unreasonable about it) unload and park. Short walk to the water gradual increase in water depth as opposed to the Lunds side which appears to drop off quickly. MHO

I am not familiar with kayaking in the Cape May area. I normally kayak behind OC. Post your question in the Kayak thread, and maybe someone can help.
Also, what kind of kayak did you buy?
I live right around the corner from your town, and if you want to fish the OC area sometime, let me know. It might not be until later in the month or beginning of Oct.

squidder--I've seen the guys surf fishing on the Crest side of the bridge but never thought about launching there due to the long hike. Thanks for the tip.

Be careful launching in that area. Strong current from the inlet and loads of boating traffic. Not the best area to fish either imo. Head just a little farther into the back away from the commotion. Saw someone out there in a yak (blue?) earlier this week launching from the CM side. Not sure if it was you or not, but the guy flipped twice. Once from inexperience launching, the other from the wake of a larger vessel. I'll say it again . . . be careful out there.

Nope, wasn't me.The closest I've ever launched to there is the state ramp in CM. I like the looks of where Retainage launches by Mill Creek, looks like it's pretty isolated if you head backbay.

Thanks to all who offered advice, it is appreciated. If you launch at Millcreek you can get back near Lunds, just takes a little paddling. I've fished back there lately by boat and kayak, and it is worth getting the kayak back there. Plenty of shorts.

Do you just park on the side of the road when you launch at Millcreek?
Didn't know if the law would bother you if you park there.

thanx

the side of the road is fine, or you can unload then move your vehicle across the road by the boats for sale in the marinas parking lot. Good luck.

VillasBill- It's an easy place to launch there. The majority of my kayak trips are from there. I met Retainage Friday night back there, had 1 short about 18 inches.

Drydock-- Might give it a try later tomorrow afternoon around 4 or so if it's not too windy.
Maybe I"ll see you or retainage there. Tide will be dropping so hopefully there's not a low water
problem there.

Went out of Mill Creek today around 4PM. Didn't catch anything, tide was going out and really ripping. Peddaled around for about 2 hours just scouting the area out. A guy was just leaving when I got there and had just caught some mullet, netted them I guess
