Last night I was fishing the banks with a buddy and as soon as we walked out there we heard what sounded like bass rolling on the surface. I know they weren't bunker or another baitfish, they were definitley a lot bigger than that. I threw everything I had in my plug bag with only a small whack and miss on a surface swimmer. Any suggestions on what I should have done? Maybe if I went back there under the same conditions with live peanuts?
My buddy and I ended up chucking some clam out there which was fun, but brought no bass. Along with the millions of small seabass, we got a small trigger and a 15" sheepshead.

Yo-zuri crystal minnow (floating) is my go to in those conditions. A rigged fin-S (no lead head) works well too.

You have to match the bait. Although I think with all the bait in the water the bass are not going to hit anything other then live bait. I fished last night, there was tons of bait in the water and I could see bass hitting them, but they wouldn't hit anything artifical, just live baits. I didn't get a thing until I switch to live bait. Then BAM th fight was on...

There has been alot of mullet running around the sod in that area. I know this because i have been getting a decent amount of them in the cast net behind my house on Mystic Islands.
Try something resembling a fleeing surface mullet. Probably alot of blues in the area as well.

Thanks for the replies guys.
I can't wait to get back there to try to figure them out.
I'm not sure I'll do it soon though because I think this rain might screw everything up.
