Is a West wind good or bad for fishing in the RIPS ? Does it drive wave size up or down ?

Which Inlet? Little egg inlet is smooth on the outgoing with a west wind.
I figure most in NJ will be like that, I dont know how the rips lie in DE bay though..

If I remember right, it's rough incoming and better outgoing.

West wind can be okay for the Cape May rips. In a new moon scenario this coming week, the tide is strong enough to give you the proper drift if the wind is around 12 knots or less. When it gets above that, the outgoing tide will be the best drift conditions. Of course, you can power drift through any tide or stem the tide with the boat. See you out there

Old Wise Tail "WIND FROM THE WEST FISH THE BEST, WIND FROM THE EAST FISH THE LEAST". Works for me...

I believe in that axiom CM. It always seemed to hold true for me. I will be looking for a little from the West on Thursday! Can't wait!!
