After a long respite from fishing myself, Bayview Bob, and Skip M. took a shot that NOAA would be right with their 5-10 forecast- and they were dead on.

Thank God I had a snow shovel in the truck as we had to clean the decks before we left for the rips. We tried a few rips on our way out but did not see anything interesting until we hit a spot that Skip M. and I do pretty good at this time of year. We managed a few on spot and some on bucks- but they were pretty spread out.

The water was around 45 degrees and so/so clean and we fished the outgoing tide. As the tide slacked I thought we might run and gun a little looking for birds. We finally saw what we were looking for and it didn't take long to adjust the tackle to find the fish. We followed the flock and found the schools. We ended the day with 38 Bass up to around 20lbs. Three of our larger fish were about 35-36inches and super fun on light tackle with bucks and green plastics. We just slow trolled our bucks until we had a hit and then stopped as we slid into the school of fish. It was a blast of a day and one I will not soon forget.

I wondered if you guys were Barners. Took a chance calling on 68 as I usually hang on 78. I was docked next to you guys somewhere along the line- was it at Cape May Marine? Glad you guys got em too! When you get an opportunity like that- you really need to capitalize on it as quickly as possible. You never know when the school is moving on or when a bunch of boats will come and ruin the fishing. Hard to believe we had it more or less to ourselves all afternoon.

Nice report and you guys did real good finding the birds. Nothing better than catching them on light tackle;) Thanks for the report.

Hello Tom,
We never met but I did hear you on the radio with your friends yesterday. I was out there too and bailed them for 3-4 hours before heading in. I had nothing bigger than 25" but did manage to put over 40 in the boat. Used everything in the arsenal and they hit everything too... Here is a pic of my DF..

God bless and have a great holiday..
Bruce

Bruce- nice pic. Funny thing is our screen was very different. These Bass were all down about 20 feet and not on the bottom. It took a few minutes and some quick thinking to figure out the best way to catch em. Very fun stuff.
