Boat in Cape May - 15 mins from the rips. Fishing on Sunday and I have not had huge success in the rips over the last 10 days. Looking to go around the point and look for some birds. Anyone think blowing off the rips for this type of trip on Sunday is a bad idea? Anyone have an update on the water in the rips? Should i give it one more try? Really dark last three times out. Thanks for the advice.

Uncle and brother fished the rips today and only had 5 fish all day.. They said they did see more fish caught by the guys using live spot, but they were using Gulp and bucktails and had a slow day. I would say your best bet is to spend the day looking for birds and if you find em, it will be worth the time and effort. Good luck:cool:

Found all the stripers you could catch off of Cape May 3 to 5 miles off today under the birds. The only problem is that they were all 23 to 27 inches, but a blast to catch on bucktails

If that was the case, then 23"-27" fish wouldn't be a "problem".

Let's face it... we all know what's going on out there.

To set the record straight.....I do not keep stripers that are caught in the ocean that are caught in waters over 3 miles out.
I state small fish to be a problem being that these schools that we chase under the birds 3 miles out will probally be the same fish in the rips or inshore tomorrow if the weather conditions or seas push them in.
We have caught an unusual amount of small stripers this year. Is that a good thing ? .....I dont know. Where are the bigger fish ?
In the last week, I guesstimate that we have caught over 100 shorts to 4 keepers. The keepers were taken at the C&B.Most of the shorts were taken under the birds offshore
