This afternoon came across a bunch of birds in the surf, in avalon. Birds were from 60th-63rd. Not really sure what they were working, but what ever it was they really wanted it. For the first time today a saw a seagull get smashed by a wave! Couldn't believe it! Thought he was goner, but out of the white water, thing just pops up and flys away. Couldn't really confirm and fish splashing or anything but seemed fishy. Was able to get a pic of the play, throw it up later. Did throw a popper out but, couldn't get close.:( This was around 11am?....

Saw some similar activity further south on Thursday afternoon. Thought we could see what we thought was bait of some kind pushing on top outside the surf. No splashes but it sure looked like bait. The birds however were not over these spots but were in the wash. Seemed like they were trying to pick crabs that were being washed over the shallow bars.

Very good discription! That was what I saw to a T. Having some difficulty with the pic, it was taken with a different camera and is not on my computer so it could take a bit to get posted. What a nice day it was out yesterday.:)
