Before posting it would be a great idea to read the rules.

A LITTLE knowledge is a -------;)

NC. opened 2 three day seasons where NO ONE caught fish.

They opened a third three day season and a limited amount were caught.

Mr. Bush has no say in the State limits, only over the THREE mile limit.

read up on the EEZ (OVER THREE MILES)

When you come down, look me up I'll take the time to set you straight:(

Amazing how a press confernce and some double talk can still be fooling people 7 years later:) What was the the total poundage for the NC season? The fish they are netting in NC are the same ones we are killing here in NJ with our bonus tags.Thats why we have bonus tags in NJ ( no commercial season)Bonus tags =more quota ...not more fish in the ocean.Anybody have the landing numbers for the last 3day opening.

Nobodys answered the question

Why is NC the only State on the East coast permitting this type of fishery to exist?

Last week while fishing in my boat off Kitty hawk NC, the NC marine fisheries broadcast a request over the VHF radio for anyone who has a NC comm. fishing licence to please come to the Corolla beach and take their daily allotment of stripers. A netter netted over 500 bass and is only allowed by law to keep 50. this was very disappointing since the four of us on the boat could not catch our seventh bass.

So it seems NC does not regulate its 3 day open comm fishing. Thats why everyone sees it as a travesty at best.

I would not have a problem with the 3 day season if comm's fished rod and reel. There is too much waste using nets on the beach.

The 450 bass he threw back that where caught in is net. How many where dead?

I am guessing Way too many...no video of them swimming away:(

None were left on the beach, and it wasn't the CO or marine police that called in other commericals.

That boat was one of three,----

Why bother to explain, what matters to most that bash the commericals is how many fish they can put into their freezer.

Not how many people get to eat them because they bought them.

Why would any boat have to keep six fish and be looking to get their seventh?????

It's a shame that they don't put a limit on cattle, them we would have to raise our own.

we all love to fish just annoying that us "yankee'S" spent all this time carefully removing hooks from shorts reviving them so they can swim another day to YANKED to the beach by a net NETS DON'T LET THE LITTLE GUY'S GO

If you read the thread--"Striper fishing with a truck"

It should help you better understand.

I don't mind explaining some of this again.

Targeted Species and Size, Very Clean Catch. Completely legal.

No fish were discarded or left to rot on the beach. Very short "soak" time. Net hauled back quickly so that it did not "keep catching'' Tail end of the net had a lot of live fish.

Commercial Quota at most is 25% of the total stripers caught according to NOAA with the sports taking the bulk of the rest. In Carolina the commercial catch in 2006 was about 11 %

In a lot of these posts throughout the barn concerning this video I get the distinct impression that the main reason that everyone is so PO'd is that the commercial guys are taking "our (the sports)fish".

I should have been more specific. It was not what they were doing but why they were permitted to do it by the state. I understand they are commercial fishermen but with all the regulations in place to limit the striper harvest you would think this would not be permitted.

You want to limit the harvest .

But only the commercial guys are restricted and catch less ??????
