Does anyone ever or would anyone ever use a teaser when trolling plugs?

When trolling stretch 25s or 30s, I use a eel teaser about 2-3ft above,
sometimes I catch more on the teaser than the stretch.
I have used bucktail teasers, but found that their weight sometimes
throws off the rythm of the stretch, whereas the eel teaser did not.
I have seen the same used for plugs, something light which does not throw off the
action of the plug.
Most times they are used to the get the attention of the fish, then the main
bait is presented.

Thanks Kevin,
I was thinking it is kind of the same concept to me using a teaser in the surf when im plugging. I can see where it would work, just wanted to know if any actually did this or not. would you tie a dropper loop or just run a short leader off a swival above your plug?

Running the stretches off the back of the boat, one with, one without,
the one with got hit usually 2 to 3 times as much.
I tied the eel 2 inches from the swivel. If you make it to long, it will
wrap with your main lure line.

dropper loop, 24 inches above lure,
12inch leader to the teaser. use a bucktail teaser chartruse and or white. bucktail teasers are virtually weightless.

I would not recommend it if Bluefish are around as you could lose both. I never used a teaser with Bunker Spoons as there is too much going on and I would rather not impede the action of the spoon in any way.
With regards to a plug or tube for example, slow trolling or drifting a rip, a teaser is not a bad idea, I usually use a strip bait-something with a scent. Trolling a Stretch for example 20+ feet of water, I rarely found the need to enhance that plug other than smearing some Smelly Jelly on it.

8" power bait eel.
I had some amazing double headers on it and the stretch at the
same time trolling.
Some days I had more on the eel then the stretch, especially towards
the middle of Dec when sand eels were everywhere.

Everybody uses that tactic during the spring bass run in the Chessapeake.
I've even gotten it to work with bunker spoons. The trick is the lighter lure is your teaser. If you try using a bunker spoon, use that as your teaser and use a 12oz parachute jig as your main lure. The weight of the jig keeps it below the bunker spoon so you won't tangle.
From the dropper loop use about 3' for the spoon & 5-7'for the jig.
Locals will either use the above or they'll use umbrella rigs with 9" sassy shads. When I first saw it, I thought it would scare off the stripes, but it works great.
