Ok, maybe I am retarded or something but why are you all connecting braid to braid?? Topping off the reel without wastin all the old line??

Not sure of youre mental status  (just kidding).......
You hit the nail on the head ,adding a topshot of braid to my reel problem is that ive pulled the mono and braid of 2 times to add more mono backer and i still can put more braid on.....

I see your a Teddy Roosevelt fan, heres my favorite quote of his....

Every immigrant who comes here should be required within five years to learn English or leave the country.

Now I am really questioning my mental status. That still makes no sense to me. Are you trying to get the perfect amount of backing for a 150 filler spool?? I wouldnt join braid to braid, I would reverse spool it. Power pro and then mono backing, then reverse it onto another reel and then back onto original reel. That way you just throw on 150 yds at the mono-braid connection knot everytime you freshen up. I dont know, I am going off the 1000yd spools now so i dont have to worry about it.

BTW, I liked that Teddy Roosevelt quote in my sig for a while and saw it again in the Angler and decided to steal it. I cant say I am a huge Teddy Roosevelt fan, but I am definetaly more of a fan after reading your quote from him. Looks like the man knew what he was talking about.

Braid to braid - the double uni is good. For braid to mono, I like the Albright with a drop of Zap A Gap.

Traveler, thanks for the recommendation on zap a gap. I've been using rubber cement to try to smooth an albright, but it only lasts for a day or two if its passing through guides.

After doing a search on zap a gap I found a bunch of articles about it being "the fly tier's secret weapon".

As stated I have removed the braid and mono 2 times,to add more mono as to fill the spool up with the braid topshot of 150yds ,i dont intend on "backspooling " this reel again, now in order to fill the spool i intend to ad another spool of braid , now i can just as well peel off and replace one spool of braid to the double uni as well as taking one spool down to the mono, dont have a line counter im sure this may help,i suppose its me thats retarded ....i 'll wear the badge proudly:D

Sorry for yelling, :) don't believe we've met. I'm still confused on why you would want to tie braided to braided. you don't need to reply, I'm confused enough. uni to uni should work for you.
