Loosedrag and I fished the bay.... We arrived early at 5:15 AM and headed straight for bait. Loose and I recently bought a new cast net and it was time to put it to use!!
After about 8-10 throws we had at least 100 bunker. We met up with eelball and gave him a bucket full!!
We set up on a drift and and after a few blues I landed the first bass of the day about 13 pounds. Did that drift again and more blues so we made a move to where eelball was as he had landed a decent fish. we anchored in this area and it was nothing but more blues.
Me and Mike made a move and after finding some decent marks we dropped anchor and it wasn't long before a 20 pounder took my bait hit the deck. After a quick release another striper took my bait. Landed this 22 pounder and I now had 3 stripers and Loose was still bluefishing! The tide was starting to die so we made a move to try and drift some livies... Mike then missed a definite striper bite on the livie and the was starting to get
When the tide was almost slack we made a move back the where we landed the two 20 pounders earlier. Once the tide started to move I hooked into another 20 pounder which put me a 4 stripers. Mike 0!
Mike then copied my setup as I was using only heads the whole day and I hooking them through the cut meat and out the top of the shoulded!
It didn't take long for him to land a striper after that and then the bite got really good for us! We stayed at this spot till almost 4:30 which is when we ran out of heads and started throwing tails.
Our final talley was at least 25 blues landed with many hooks lost to the blues and 11 stripers with the biggest going 22 pounds! We kept two and released the rest.
I landed 6 and mike landed 5 with the last fish coming on a tail as the motor was running and we were about to pull anchor! Mike landed it and we called it a day after that!
If we had more bait I'm sure we would have stayed for the entire outgoing as the bite was that good and we were all alone as the fleet was a few miles away!!!!
Thanks Loose for fun trip!

With about 65 bunker in the cooler... (no need for livies) we set off to the same spot we had fish the other day. It wasn't long before we hit a few blues and then I was hooked up to a bass and while I was Loose had a screaming run! He set the hook and we had a double of Stripers with mine going about 12 pounds and Loose pulled in the biggest of the day at 28 lbs!

After many more blues and another 15 pound striper we took a look again to see if the bunkers were on top but they were not. We snagged a few more and left.
We went back to our spot and I hooked up with another striper of about 20 pounds... Didn't weigh it!

And many more blues!
We then made a few moves trying to find structure and marks and we set anchor on top of the most crazed and insane bluefish bite! Big Big blues... As soon and our baits hit the bottom they hit! We decided to have a little fun with them since they were so aggressive and tied on some steel leader that loose had on the boat and went to town!! These fish for whatever reason were extremely aggressive and fought like crazy! After at least thirty of them we went back to our location from early and at this point the wind had picked up and we stayed for a little landing another 12-15 pound striper and we called it quits around 3:30 PM!
Final tally was 5 stripers (all released) all taking heads to 28 lbs and toooooo many big blues!!
Another fun day!
And once again we did use all that bait!
