The take a soldier fishing thread went from a little intrest to a huge demand. We could use some more of you guys to sign up there to take a soldier out for a couple hours. You dont have to have a boat. If you fish from the marsh, bridge or yak it doesnt matter we have more soldiers who want to go then we have offers from barners.
I spoke this morning with the guy who handles the wounded soldiers. He said many of theese guys havent seen their families in over a year and would love to do any form of fishing freshwater or salt, from shore or from boat. He said he has over 75 wounded guys just at Fort dix that he is trying to get on to some fishing.
We are suposed to have something like 20,000 members here and we have about 50 offers to take troops out fishing. Please if you only can do it one time and with one guy post on the offshore forum your location, when you can go and how many guys you can take. Make sure your email is working or better yet leave your phone number.
Thanx,
Barrell

If they are injured at Fort Dix, how do I get them down to Avalon? Are there more details in the offshore forum?

They are healed up to the point they can get around I'm takeing two groups of three after mermorial day from the group. They are very excited about going. I think this is a great thing and have six trips for troops. I would do more soldier only trips put the price is getting high. I think I'm going to start taking groups of two so I can split the price with a buddy.

Come on guy's, these guy's are getting shot at so have the freedom to go fishing. You guy's are going fishing anyway so why not take a soldier with you. Go ahead it will make you feel good.;)

What about transportation to and from? I am 90 miles from the water and it would be difficult for me to pickup and drop off. Could they get transportation to the dock at say Atlantic Highlands? If this can be arranged, I could put a few on board.

Everyone that is going with me has/is supplying their own ride to the dock. I offered to have them ride down with me but, they wanted to drive themselves.

This is the same as my contact with the Medical Hold Unit at Ft. Dix.

There are a bunch of guys who want to go out.

Search on Soldier...and let's get this back to one posting...

I'd like to setup an armada the week after Memorial Day at Great Bay Marina in Tuckerton.

Let me know.

Could get some out on our boat for the Black Drum. Contact me ASAP to see about a date or two as we are pretty booked up with regular charters but we can make it happen. I think the guys will enjoy our boat. We are at South Jersey Marina right on the main drag that leads into Cape May right across the street from Jim's Bait and Tackle and Tony's Pizza. I think the guys or gals will be amazed how hard a Black Drum can pull. Since this in not a charter we can accomadate at least 8 or more anglers easily and I am sure they will enjoy their experience as we will do our best to show them a great time.

Contact us if itnerested before the drum bite is over in early June. We now have the Oliva Grace and Cape Queen which can handle at least 8 also. That would be close to 25 anglers on three quality boats all fishing out of South Jersey Marina.
