Ok guys I am close to getting my first kayak. Me and my almost 3 year old daughter went to visit Barrel at his place to look at some Kayaks. I am all but positive that I will be getting the outback. I already know what I will be putting on the kayak so it will be setup for a fishing machine. I also noticed that it gets toyota prius gas milage and a bit more:D so that is a great advantage too.

Well I want to see all the great pictures of you and your kayak fishing catching getting pulled around. I looked through all the kayak thread but not so much of the photos so that is why I am asking to see some more. Also I would like some of your best fishing stories while on you own kayak.

So lets have them boys.

Thanks

Soon to be yacken Brian

I'll have more shortly, this is the only one I have of the yak. Finally figured out where I want to rig everything, waiting on the FF mount then I'll post pics up. Then I need to figure out how I'm gonna mount my camera. I'll also post up the battery box I made. Used a emergency exit sign battery, much higher capacity than the 8 AA batteries.

But for now.........caught this in a lake that I could only get to because I bought the yak.
No scale, but about 5.5

No scale, but around 5 1/2 by my eye.

Feet are behind the fish so they look smaller.....I have duck feet. If I could find shoes that are cut wide enough I'd be a size 9. But I have to wear a 10 to 10.5 cause they're so wide.

Here's another. Same fish, horrible pic though.

OK mine's pretty much done. At least presentable now. Flush mount 90 deg holder is in front of the FF. You can also see the battery strap hardware just behind the rear hatch. Attach both tiedown straps to this, it's plenty strong, yak's not going anywhere.

The battery box I made. Every seam and hole completely sealed. Terminal posts.

Wiring for FF. Just drilled the mounting hole under the RAM mount for the FF. Had to make a cutout to accept the wires.

Short bungee to hold the front hatch open. Kept closing on me when I was trying to do stuff in there.

PVC scupper hole cart per Barrell's Plans. Just needs bigger wheels and a pool noodle pad. Works great and I can't imagine it breaking.

You have to figure out the width it needs to be, depending on your kayak.
Barrell........here's your plans. You keep asking people for a fax number, don't know if you have them on your computer or not.

You can get decent paddle fishing kayak in the $600 range (depending how big you are) To rig a fish finder and a couple rod holders might add $275

I built one of the PVC pipe carts and broke it first time in the sand. so I rebuilt it and this time I droped a metal tube inside the 2 vertical tubes and sealed the top with silicone. It has not broken yet.
