Had only a few hours to fish today, so with a ton of reports comming in off lbi, broke the inlet before sun up. Saw the remnants of the storm out to the east.
Made a right looking for the bunker. Found the the first pod within minutes put a bunch of fresh in live well just in case. This first pod had nothing in them. Keep running south and saw a HUGE school of seriusly nervous fish flipping and flopping for their lives. First hook up comes unbuttoned. I think the weighted treble hook ripped out, I need to find larger weighted trebles. The second hook up is perfect. A 43 incher hits the deck weiging in at a hint above 32 lbs.
The Third hook up was user error :(. Got excited when a BIG fish started ripping line out of my 975 ld like it was my kids snoopy pole. I tried to slow him down with my thumb on the reel, that didnt work then I put too much drag on him and POP. I know that was a great fish. I have been thinking about that one all day. Bluefish moved in shortly after that, kept one of those for the chinaman that cleans my fish.
All in all a great day on the water. Fishing during the week is AWESOME!!! It almost makes me not want to come out on the weekends..... Almost. ;)
