i wasnt out there but i would guess either
1 (unlikely) - they bought it:mad:
2- you arived after the bunker had dispersed
3-(unlikely) you just didn't see them OR you were at the wrong depth
4 (most likely)- the bunker were schooled on the bottom and you didn't locate or notice them on your FF

keep your eyes open just beyond the north jetty. That's where we have been finding them with bass feeding. snag em & let them swim with the school.

If you went today (6-11) in the am....I heard there wasen't much going on. They were tough to spot today in the light chop.

broke inlet a little after 6, headed north all the way to sr. I found one small pod off bradley that sounded before i could even cast. it was tough to see them in the am with the decent north wind and chop on the water. i heard on the radio that there were many pods just south of Manasquan. by noon, the wind had shifted to a a gentle west wind and the ocean went flat. I was off spring lake and belmar at this point and there was as much bunker as you wanted, bass in some of the pods as well. i was on a pod in around 50 feet with 4 other boats, everyone patiently worked the bait as it moved around, idling to get in its path, nobody revved their engines and it worked great. every boat was hooked up at varying times. one boat cast a weighted treble somewhat close to me on accident, and snagged a bunker, 10 feet from my gunwale. almost instantly a bass shot up and hammered it, half clearing the water with the bait in its mouth. It was great to see.
We also had a crazed pod of porpoises come cruising by, they stopped and fed on some bunker a little deeper and were skyrocketing out of the air with bunker in their mouths. It was a pretty good day.
