If I use an inline trolling weight when pulling stretch diving plugs will they still run true? Anybody try this? How much deeper will I be able to get the lure down? Thanks.

Try a drail and LOTS of leader

I am thinking this. The weight and amount of tension to the lure all added together with what trolling speed depends on stretch and depth? I would think the heavier the weight the better stretch but maybe slower speed? Its a very good question I only am guessing but sound like you can mess with it and figure out your depth and stretch with some different set ups.:D Just did want you to think nobody is listening.

I heard of doing it also if you want deep let it sing to the bottom then let out line then begin trolling it gets it deeper.. I tried it once it did get it deeper but we ndid not catch. so I don't know

I've been very successful for years trolling up Black Grouper just off the reef in Key Largo using Stretch 30's in 50 to 70 ft.....15' leader in back of a 6 or 8 oz. trolling drail at 5 knots will get it down to about 35 -40 ft... The long leader lets the lure do its pulsating act.
