Who said there aren't any stripers to be found this time of year. Set out to find some snappers for an up coming off shore trip and found slack tide, no bait fish or snappers. Since it was dusk and I couldn't find any bait fish or snappers on top we ran to a little hole that has produced for me in the past at slack tide and took a cast with a white bucktail with black & pink tail. Dropped deep and BAM the drag takes off screaming. It was challenging keeping this fish out of the rocks since I was using my 5' 4" ultra-light with red power-pro 4-20. A great fight, lots of fun. Measured 34 inches, no scale, but I would guess easy 15-20lbs.:D Tasted great with grill onions, fresh Jersey tomatoes, and a cold beer. I guess there are a few benefits to cold ocean temps in August.

P.S. This is just 1 of the 10 bas that we caught that evening. Todd had the hot rod banging 9 fish in about an hour & a half. These fish averaged 18 to 24 inches. Fun fish. But it is like I said, "size does matter".;)
