Now I dont know squat about those bygone days of huge tiderunners, but here are my two biggest weakfish ever. Never weighed them.
Jigged em up off the beach a few years ago on Halloween.
Show me yours! (I'd like so see pics of those old time giant tiderunners!)

Faraway - Nice Fish.
Biggest Jack - Cmon now, my picture may be big but the fish arent that big! I assume that they are just spikes compared to the old stories of night time party boat monsters. Like the old Oyster Creek boats!
The fish are in a 40 Qt cooler to give a size reference.

Heres my biggest to date. A little over 9 lbs. Caught from a "secret jetty" ;) on a bucktail. Had my line and heart broken last spring by one that would have easily gone 12 lbs. :( But that just keeps me coming back for more!

Nice fish all. I go back to the 70's & if I knew how to post pics, I would. There were a lot of serious trout back then, but again all your pictures of last year mean I have to get serious about trout-again. Great fly-rod fish. Ron

I have recieved an email from a member implying these were too many fish to keep. This is a reasonable comment so I felt the need to add that this picture is the cumulative catch of three fishermen on a rare night trip. All the fish are of legal size and we were below our limit. The picture was taken many years ago, and my attitude about taking fish in these numbers has changed a lot since then. Below is my email response to him.
" My views about keeping a large amount of fish have changed a lot as I get older and become more informed as to the effects of these types of harvests. Bill Donavon (I think it was him) had an interesting article in the angler magazine a few months ago where he raised a question as to the decreasing weakfish population starting out as a normal cycle but continuing as a result of the increase in Striper population the last 3-4 years. His point being the enviroment may not be able to support large numbers of of more than one species, i.e. it's hard for the weakies to make a comeback because of the large numbers of Stripers in the Bay recently. Which would raise the question did the Stripers come back strong because of the decline in weakies, or did the Stripers cause the decline of the weakies, if you buy his theory of the enviroment being incapable of supporting both in large numbers. I am not sure if I do, but it makes for interesting debate. Bottom line, we are only starting to realise how fragile the marine ecosystem is and how very subtle changes in fishing regs can have an impact not only on the target species, but on others as well."

Grabbe and I with a couple nice weakies. Sept. 2001 out front townsends inlet. Fished most of the day in the back, not much happening. Capt. Mike decided to take us out front. Noticed some bird activity, Mike placed us just outside where birds were working. Mike lands his weakfish first... amazed and pumped. Minutes later, I land a beauty on a white bucktail with 4 inch pinky. Proud to say that this fish still holds record on the Angler for largest fish caught. Went back to Mike's Cousin Knobby's where this photo was taken. After that, spent the afternoon in Fred's and celebrated our catch. Thanks Mike...Always a pleasure and alot of fun to fish with the Grab Man!!! Ipp

Hitless Wonder-thanks for pitching in. As you can see my OCD tendencies were really kicking in. I've posted pics in the past with no problems- I don't know what I was doing wrong.
Here's my formay- Right click properties, copy address, go to barn, click image, go to address, erase http//, paste address, click add reply.
Do you think that because this was a scanned photo and not a pic from a digital is the reason I was having problems. Anywho... props to you. Thanks Ipp

ippo, i do the same thing you purportedly ;) did, that was the third pic i ever posted. i am a recently lapsed luddite, making me the wrong one to ask about computer difficulties. it did seem the addresses you pasted were missing some letters and jazz, but the first pic i posted was a scan and it worked fine. you may not have pasted the entire address thingy (make sure you get it all when you highlight it), but your persistence was inspirational :D . what i do to avoid public knowledge of my faux pas is to preview the post smile.gif . good luck, sorry if i couldn't be more help.
