Current Chessie Fishing

Hey cool, a Chesapeake Board! As some of you know I spend my Summers and early Fall fishing the Chessie so I thought I'd give a quick overview of what's happening right now.
WORKING BIRDS!!
For the past several weeks we've had breaking fish all over the place. Easy to find under gulls, these schools consist of 16 to 24 inch Stripers and ravenous 3 pound Blues. Not the trophies some of you may seek, but a heck of a lot of fun when you can hook 100+ fish on light tackle in an outing.
Highlight of the last three weeks or so are occasional catches of SPANISH MACKERAL. Working school to school you never know when one of these speedsters will hit a fast retrieved lure and you're off to the races:

Unfortunately the Spanish will soon be departing as water temps drop, but he blues will get fatter and the stripers will be on the major feed in preparation for winter. Still some bigger stripers around mostly caught by liveliners, up to 34 inches.
It's been one of the better seasons over here in recent memory, and promises to hold steady into late Fall.

What area of the bay are you fishing? I'm planning on heading out of Rock Hall sometime in the next couple weeks. Anything going on up that way?

This is great!!!Love it love it love it!!!:bow:Where where the spanish makeral??Haven't heard about them being around.Had some good luck at the end of August in the Chester river area live linin spot.Caught som legal bass up to 28" and some huge catfish up to 30".Lookin to hit it again in a couple of weeks.:D

A forum I know something about, love to fish the big Bay.

Spent the last three weeks trailering to Kent Island and going out thru Eastern Bay.
The area surrounding Poplar Island has been ON FIRE. Some Macs in those parts, but more further south on the western side.
Rock Hall is also holding fish, but they've been a tad trickier to find some days. The topwater bite has just started to light up as well, especially in the shallows early and late in the day.
