Well it is cold and blowin 25 or better. What better way to spend a day than to go fishing...:eek:
Yep... Left the Viking at the dock to make sure the pilings don't get lonely and splashed the Contender for a Shrewsbury River smack down... I had done some scouting on the Navesink side but came up short. I decided to work some tried and true spots. Wind against tide is a bummer but if you work the slide just right it can pay off.
And pay off it did. We blistered the blues, pounded the poorgies, wailed on the weakies and even tickled a lone tog... The gulp gig just wasn't working except on the blues but the worms were on fire. One half or one third cut was the ticket. The weaks were from a couple pounds on up to a couple down right respectable six pound class ones. Porgies were fair sized, the blues were eatin size but we released em...
Fish were in the deeper holes and down deep right near the rises...
