The real Clamman
10-06-2008, 09:29 AM
Met Lee at KMB at 6:15 am on Sat.
We pushed off at 6:30 am.
The water was flat calm.
Rounded the hook and we set up on some good marks.
I told Lee before the lines went in we will give the spot a half Hour.
Within 15 minutes I had the 1st keeper Bass on. The Bass measured 29".15 minutes later I boated another keeper Bass 31" and Lee lost 1.At 8:30 am we had 2 Bass in the box & I called MBOY into the bite but don't you know once they showed up the bite died.I meant well but I felt bad.We hung around for awhile not wanting to leave fish to find fish but it never turned on.We took a ride east because I thought I saw something good from a distance but once we got closer it wasn't what I thought it was.Moved east of Romer and 2 clam boats were working and I thought for sure it was going to be drop & reel but once we anchored we swung in different directions almost like we were on a Merry go Round http://njsaltwaterfisherman.com/forums/Smileys/classic/grin.gif We Waited for wind & tide and fished hard for an hr and all we were catching were Big Sea Robins & Skates.Made another move & we decided it was time to start trolling. We trolled for a bit but nothing was happening.Moved West off Keansburg found some good marks but no one was home.
All & All a great time was had.
