Usually fish the ocean in S jersey. Have an opportunity to fish with a buddy in the upper bay (near Rock Hall) and deperately need fishing advice. My boy has a sweet boat but lacks local knowledge.

So what is the ticket? Sounds like finding and catching spot and then live lining them is the preffered method. From past trips out of Tilgman Island I remember they catch the spot on fish bites or bloods but where does one find the spot locations?

Does anyone just fish bait? Calm, bunker, worms???

Then live line them on the bottom and hope for the striped ones as opposed to the blues? Any decent spots near Rock Hall that is easilly identifiable?

I would assume there will be a fleet near the RT 50 bridge that we could find and squeeze in.

As always, any help is appreciated.

I was down there a few times this year and we found spot at Dollys Lump, On the west and just south of the bridge. From what I heard and read there still there but harder to get, Lot of Blues in that area but also some "Rockfish"
The Gum Thickets we did good at, South and East of the bridge.

Formerly Glenolden. Send me an email.

TF,

If the weather forecast holds up, we will likely be in the same area. Unfortunately, I am far from being knowledgeable as this will only be my third trip to the area. We did very well in August catching a short way up the Chester River. We just moved up onto a flat on the south side of the river and used a 1/8 oz. shad dart tipped with fishbites. If you can't catch spots, a lot of folks just fish with chunks of bunker. You can also jig up some rock with crippled herrings or hopkins. If you see fish breaking on the surface, just drop your jig to the bottom underneath them. Good luck either way.

Live-lining is really starting to drop off. Two reasons; blues have taken over traditional live-lining areas and stripers moving up into the rivers. This weekend and first part of this week have been a bit slow out of Rock Hall, but nice weather this weekend may promise better fishing. Lots of bars, lumps that should be holding fish that will take metal jigged on the bottom. Easy to locate choices; The bridge and sewer pipe (tons of blues at the eastern shore rockpile mid-bridge) or the bars north and west of Rock Hall (Man-o-war, Hodges, 7 and 9 foot knolls).
