I'm searching for a new PFD, I see a lot of guys like the Stohlquist and others swear by the inflatables. What are you guys using?

Heck of a deal for $45.00 now.... I paid more like $80/jacket a few years back.

I like the idea of the mesh back, looks like a nice vest, plus the price is right.

If at all possible, you should sit in a kayak with your backrest when trying on PFD's.

Agreed with sitting in the boat. Makes a big difference. A lot of them ride up on you and are really uncomfortable when you paddle. I won't use an inflatable though because I don't want one that manually inflates and an automatic will get wet and go off when you don't want it to.

They solved the problem with the accidental inflations. A lot of the new ones won't go off anymore unless they're submerged. :thumbsup:

I wear nothing in warm weather. I do wear a full blown type 3 vest in cold water. I wear a lotus which are considered the best.
If fishing in cool weather where a sumbmersion for 10 minutes would not be fatal I wear an inflatable from Stearns. Our best seller at the shop is the mesh boating vest by Stearns. We sell 29 out of 30 customers that vest. The 30thh buys an inflatable. Inflatables are only leagl if worn.
