View Full Version : 10-11 10-12 Av-SH bunker search

Did Sea Isle to Wildwood saturday and sunday. Saturday was a blowout nice forecast! Got out front for sunrise.Could not see anything in the chop. Switched to bottom very quickly. Stayed out front and grabbed a croaker and a bluefish (3lb) then had enough of the spin cycle and went back in. Banked a 16' striper on some sod banks on the way to SHM on a blue bomber I love the broke back lures the action is too much to handle. They can spook the fish sometimes though.

Sunday was calmer saw some pods about 7-10ft down on the finder, wasn't sure if it was mullet or bunky bunk or just spikes so I went under with some gulp eels on a hook and jig that I rigged up. Snap,snap,snap blues killed all 4 in about a half hour and left me w the heads.
The ocean was bathwater on sunday, it felt like it was about 68-70 degrees. Still too warm. Bout 3 weeks away till showtime.

Came back in to see a dude on a pontoon boat pulling up a 30" lard ass about 25 yards from my dock. Sooo glad I burnt about 50$ worth of gas. Hit the sod banks after birds game with crystal minnow and black bomber, grabbed another couple shorts and it was time for the Phils. No fish were picture worthy but sunrise Saturday and Sunset Sunday sure were.

Yo Matt it's Nunnzer Welches Friend. Good report. He was telling me about that big slob you saw him reeling in on the pontoon boat. Bout 2 1/2 more weeks before we'll have a really good time down there!! Can't wait :D

I know brother I can't wait. Avoiding work at all costs today! I hear you guys were slaying SB at the reef? Next time I'm throwing a tow line on POP Tuna and we're following you around, you guys are always on the fish. Early forecast seems good for next weekend i'll be at it again. You should come with us some time so I can learn some new tricks. We can cover Welch in bunker oil and troll him in the SUMO suite.

Dude it did get a little hairy on Sat, but i couldn't see the bunker for squat...that's why we went to that spot. Trolling him in the sumo suit is definetely an option...did you see the pic? If not here it is...LOL.

I definetely want to get out there with you man. I wanna get out there on Sat and Sun....maybe we can set something up. Till then bro :thumbsup:

That is hilarious! I'll shoot you an email thursday when the forecast is a bit more clear. I'm thinking of trying an early DB run but it is hit or miss right now, mostly miss. If Steamer and I stayed on the bunker instead of going to SIR two weekends ago we would have nailed one, bad decision.


Yeah dudes were on a freakin pontoon boat slaying. I thought those things were for getting drunk and bumping into docks and bridges. Then I see the Cap with a 2x wide while i'm fanning the whole bank like taz. Never judge a fisherman by his boat. Lesson learned.

I remember that Sat two weekends ago was flat and there were bunker everywhere, my neighbor got some but later on that day. I got on em good that day just didn't hook anything up either. Give me a shout on thursday for sure...jdannunz@gmail.com. I'll let you know what I hear as far as reports go.

Thanks man! It actually ate my wallet last sunday. I asked nicely and it spit my wallet out the bilge without cash of course.



Nunzer this weekend looks like surfn safari. I'll be out back chunking for a while saturday. I know some spots that are nice and wind protected. 610-457-4712 if your down.

Dude I'll be down all weekend. Just got down a few minutes ago. I'm headed out tonight under the bridge in the rain if I have to. I'll save your number in my cell and call you tomorrow.
