I was just thinking the same thing. In the past I have monitored various tackel shop web sites but this has not proven to be accurate. At least knowing their movement would help pass the day as we wait for the heart of the season to start.

I've made friends thru this site and from just fishin up and down the coast. The migration report can be tricky.Even if there was fish just north of where you fish it doesn't mean they'll be hitting your spot the next day.The h2o temps seem to play an important role in the migration.Does anybody remember last year? The bass report was goin south town to town then a heat wave and they all pushed off shore. Then the temps dropped and bingo bass south of NJ.It's kinda frustrating:eek:I guess thats why it's called fishin not catchin:D

Tagging studies have shown stripers can migrate up to 18 miles or more in a day. Declining water temps get them on the move but their migration speed depends on the availability of bait. Many bait fish such as spot, silversides, adult and peanut bunker, mullet, rainfish, etc. migrate with the swift tidal currents associated with new and full moons. Often an influx of schools of stripers occurs following these bait movements. For many years we started striper fishing Oct 15th and the fish were always there. In more recent years, the fish migrate into our area a week or two later.
