Is this the famous "Capt. Jerry" you are hopelessly, pathetically and ridiculously trying to defend?

If it is, let me just say that you should probably just quit right now. :naughty:(...sometimes, when you find yourself in a hole, it's best to stop digging.)

You'll have to trust me, when I tell you that there are plenty of honest, serious, law-abiding anglers in the recreational community & ON THIS SITE that manage to play by the rules and can still manage to catch stripers without going beyond the 3-mile EEZ limit.

There are even more experienced charter captains on this site that can manage to do it for 8-9 months out of the year ... almost year round save for a few dead periods in the middle of winter and the peak of Summer.

These captains make their living the old way by earning it every trip they take on the water. Sure, they could easily risk their reputations, wallets and integrity to cheat or break the law to put their fares on fish out of bounds or over the limit. BUT THEY DON'T, BECAUSE THEY ARE HONEST, DECENT, AND LAW-ABIDING INDIVIDUALS ... !!!

Truthfully, dishonest cheaters like Capt. Jerry take food right off of the plates of the good guys by offering to break the law. It's as if the good guys are being punished for their honesty and integrity. :(

I am glad to see that LEOs are keeping tabs on the folks that make their living by pursuing the harvest and collection of what are essentially public resources. I hope that they can manage to keep the playing field level for all captains; I hope they can continue to rid the community of those that can't seem to play fair.

In fact, I hope that in addition to fining Capt Jerry the $25k, that they also take his boat and strip him of his charter ticket. The fishing community is better off wihout people with no respect for the resource ... and a willingness to compromise their values out of a hunger for the dollars they can unfairly suck from the sport.

its hard enough for charter boats to make a living, really what the hell is the difference where the fish was caught its a stupid regulation if you ask me and i think most of the guys on here saying "do the crime do the time" are probably hipocrates its not like he commited armed robbery, leave the guy alone also remember there are also two sides to every story what happened to innocent until proven guilty:mad:

Capt. Jerry is not the only one doing it, he's just the only one who has been caught so far. Don't throw stones, because there is a good chance that some of your beloved charter captains have also broken this rule before. And no, this is not just speculation

Personally, I hope that the authorities catch, fine, and prosecute EVERYONE who is doing it. I don't care how "beloved" the person may be to this community, or to any other one.

I think the law needs to change , myself its a tough law but its there for a reason. But does the punishment fit the crime. lets see what happens next year when the rules flip again on flounder s rules. tog , sea bass tuna yellow blue what going on. why a 3 mile ban on the one speices of fish that all anglers can reach.

I agree. I have not idea who Capt Jerry is but if he was breaking the law then I hope they throw the book at him. I even think they should double the fines. It won't affect those of us that follow the rules.
