compared to yesterday(sun) it felt like spring. i had a little time to do a quick trip, so i went straight down to seaside. there does not seem to be much happening between pt. Pleaseant and Seaside. I trolled 5 short fish, all about 26 - 27 inches, no bluefish, in about 2 hours. Water was 50 degrees. I was working the 50 ft. depth with black/red tubes. I dropped one of my gloves in the water releasing the second fish, so the last hour was a little rough for my hand. there were some birds working off the top of the mast, but i really did not have time to investigate. there were a few boats with the birds and saw a few guys hook up with what looked to be smaller fish. Not bad way to spend a Monday am.

Nice job Mike, we found lots of shorts, but decided to try just shy of the 3 mile mark and ALL fish were big. Smallest out there was 32" and the tree blues we caught out there were also over 10#'s.

Every fish was caught in 57' of water about 1/8 of a mile short of the 3 mile mark. We were about 2 miles south of the bathing beach. I kept the plotter on so we knew were the line was, just incase. We caught them on umbrellas with pearl shad bodies and I had 400' of wire out:eek: on one pole and 300' out on the other. They always hit in our turns. I tried to speed up and slow down to mimic the turns but they would only hit while in a turn.

You were a few mile south of me. According to the radio on Sunday, it sounded like there were some better size fish down where you were. We thought about going down there, but it was to friggin cold.

Mike,

I went down to the Governor's mansion - covered with birds - 2 bass - largest 38" - dropped another 34-36" alongside the boat - only one short - ratio was about 3:1 bluefish to bass. 300' wire and white metal.

That's what I ended up doing. My chartplotter looks like my son got at it and got crazy with the circles. I called some guy's in but none hooked up I even told them to do circles but they didn't. Oh well.

good day, nice size fish. I did not have that much time to go that far.
I was in "shortsville" As i was getting ready to leave to head back, I could see the birds starting to get going. i may try again on Wednesday, or friday.
Mike.

Hey Mike,

We went down to Ortly and tried jigging them. Lost 2 nice fish at the boat. Jigging seemed to slow down and we went on the troll. Pearl shad umbrellas. We picked 8 bass and 2 fish just over 28. We also picked a 6 to 7 lbs fluke on the umbrellas. We did not get a pic of him though.

The fish we kept were loaded with sandeels and each had 1 peanut in its stomach. Along with a few rain fish. Some of the sandeels were 8 inches long

Was not a nice ride down at 18 knots but we made 23 on the way back. Thanks again for the info.

I will be out on Friday as well if theweather works out. Maybe some togging and then bass

Glad you found some fish. it looked like it was going to break wide open at anytime, but i was on a time schedule. The birds were just starting to work, when i had to leave.
Stay in touch.
