Word has it that a body of enormous Stripers are headed down from Maine.

The fish average 40 - 60lbs, with some 70lb + fish mixed in.

Even a few reports of monsters that have been spooling guys clean of line.

A few guys report that while bringing a 60lb + to the boat - a couple of other Stripers were following that were nearly twice bigger !!!!!!

Those fish likely weight from 80lb - 120lbs !!!!!

...................there now, how does this work for ya ?

* Actually, there are still keepers from Montauk to Cape May, but you're right - concentrations of short fish have been around north Jersey for some time.

teasers this time of year are usually a good match to the sand eels that are in the surf. most other offerings are a little too big. sand eel teaser with an 007 or 017 ava are usually a good combination.

I was at Shrewsbury rocks today, and all I saw caught by anyone, including me was midgets. Sand eels are great, but they do not bring big fish. We need herring. Herring were here right about now last year.

i found the gannets, i found the herring but i only saw huge tuna rolling around and making fools of us. Looked like an alka seltzer factory fell out of the sky and hit the water. terrible day for me out on the water today. We worked hard and struggled all day.

I found the Gannetts, saw the tuna, and the biggest fish we caught was a hickory shad. Looked like a small tarpon. It was bigger than the stripers.

Chris we saw you out there yesterday as we were right in front of you on the way back around the hook. I don't feel bad now as those tuna made a fool out of us too. I figured it was large bait as gannets aren't diving bombing sand eels.
