One of my favirite lures was a 3 1/4oz krocodile spoon, sometimes the 7oz when there is really big ones around, but I heard they are discontinued!! Does anyone know where I can still get them or if there are any look a like brands? I remember sports authority had a spoon that looked like them a few years ago but they were smaller. I think they were just named " casting spoon"..thanks for any help

I had heard the same thing, but then I heard again that they would be bringing them back, they'd just be raising the price some.

The Kroc is my go to lure when the Bass are under bird play in the fall. My favorite is the 5 oz, but have done well with the 3 1/4 also.
Got to Cabelas.com they have all sizes and colors.

take a look at the spanyid jig. they have a 150 and 200 gram. no shops in nj or ny sell them but maybe soon. I had great luck with their sniper 15,25 and 35's all fall for bass and blues. but there large (version called the raider did well) for me. very well. it is not shaped like a krok though but it is a definite replacement.
www.spanyidusa.com is their site I believe

Thanks for the help! I hope they start selling them again, I read somewhere that the brass they use is getting to expensive but that could just be a rumor. I know Cabelas is out of stock because I bought the last of their 3 1/4 and 7oz about 6 months ago.
Those spandid lures do look good, they look like they would have the same type of wobble as a kroc. I may order some just out of couriosity:D

There's a couple of real cool charter guys out of north jersey - Gatley, Brian Rice to name two.........
These guys will assist with a few fishing suggestions even though their doing it for a living or 2nd job.
Who says Jersey people are so bad hu ?

Thanks bennett- there are great charter guys up and down the coast. anyway, the wobble is not like a krokodile due ot the shape and curves of the Krok vs the Spanyid. But the profile and length are the right size of the herring, sea bass, sea robins or what ever else they were eating when I was using them

I was in Brennan Marine in Somers Point Tues afternoon for some Stretches and they have a whole bunch of Krocodiles in stock, various sizes. You can also check Cabelas or Tackle Direct, or a barn sponsor.

I had a hard time finding the bigger sizes of Krocs locally so I ordered em online. Google krocodile and a bunch of vendors will pop up. I think I paid $10 shipped for the 3 1/4 oz. Pricey but worth it.

They are still selling the smaller Krocs, its the bigger sizes that they're not selling anymore
I did finally find some 3 1/4oz online, Charkbait tackle, I bought their last 20, but I still haven't been able to find any 7oz, I searched evrywhere I could think of on the net with no luck.
Chris, I thought the spanyid maniac looked like it would have the same wobble as a kroc, It looks like that company will only sell to distributers though

Sportsmen, in Bordentown, had a big selection when I was there on Tuesday. I did manage to put a dent in their inventory before I left. I was suprised to see them, so I loaded up.

I never tried their maniac version nor have I had it in my hands. just the raiders and snipers. I had two of the big raiders ( i think the 150 gram and one of the 200 gram) and when it started working, i re-ordered those since they worked. maybe I should have tried the maniac when I had the chance to grab them. too late now I guess. let me find a shop that sells them. No one around here in NJ or NY unless that just happened. I will also try to get a video up on my site that shows the jig in my hands. I just have to pull it from my subscribers page and dump it on the public side. I will do that sometime this morning. at least you can see it.

As promised, here is that info. The shop is not a barn member. Unfortunately, no barn shop members carry the Spanyid line. The online shop that currently has the Big Spanyid Jigs is:
http://www.tunafishtackle.com/
The link below is to my site and it has a video named saltwater sample Video. It is under my Ardent Angler Network Section. The video will show this big spanyid jig in my hands, plus I have a side shot of it. hope it helps
