Dying to get down for some big bass on the Chesepeake

Planned a three day trip last week with Dave, 30 knot winds
and 6 foot swells cut it short.

Saw a window Wens, want to drive my boat down, but there was
on and off rain in the forcast.

Read posts from Capt Kyle Johnson of Doctor's Orders. Kyle has a 25 ft
center console and has been doing the Chesapeake all his life.

Capt Kyle was running out of Solomn, MD, it was only a 3.5 hour drive
compared to a 5-6 hr to the CBBT. We met him at 6, a quick 1/2 hour
drive to the grounds. Capt Kyle started putting out the spread,
within 10 minutes we had the first fish on, for the next two hours
we had non stop action on fish, sometimes having 2-4 fish on a time,
my brother and I would be fighting fish with two more rods bent over
waiting, it was an incredible thing. Most fish were 34-38 inches.
I fought one 30+ lber and my brother pulled in 3 by the time I got
my fish to the boat. Never heard the end of that one.

After it settled a little, we finally got the full spread of 19 rods out,
total for the day was 24 fish in the boat. We never once had
a tangle, even with 4 fish on at once.

Kyle is an incredible, knowledgeable captain who is fun to fish with.

He runs out of VA Beach in Jan and Feb. I am thinking of doing a
several day trip with him. He mainly focusses on jigging, then trolling
and eeling if necessary. He can take up to four guys, and it was
only $400 for an 8 hour trip.

Thinking of booking Kyle that Tues, Wens, Thurs the first week of
Jan. if anyone would like to go let me know

Thanks
Kevin

That is normal down there, 19-21 rod spread with planers, you now
have 190 feet across rather than 8 foot across the back of the boat.
You cover alot more area, plus the lines were set for different lengths
and weights to cover different areas and depths.

Loved the idea of planers as you are getting away from the noise
of the engine.

We had hits on almost every rod at one time or another.

In the morning the fish were shallow, in the afternoon deeper.

Would not work as well in NJ as you have more boats here.

Beav,

Mojos are those umbrellas with a 32oz weight off the back, correct me
if I am wrong.

We did not use them, mostly parachute rigs, some off the back of
hookless umbrellas.

Good luck down there this winter, I have been reading some
incredible reports so far.

Capt Kyle was telling me how he was out last week in the Bay
by himself, and 8 gill netter boats showed up and pretty much
wiped out the schools in that area. Wish I could get some video
of that stuff. That might get people fired up about stopping them.
