Happy New Year to all! Looking for estimate on trip length from Cape May to Rudee Inlet, I'll be moving boat this spring to Fisherman's Wharf right next to Rudee Inlet Marina.

about 5-6 hours about 187 miles shorter if you take the ferry.

If you asking by land, then the ferry to Lewes will save you at least 3-3 1/2 hrs of drive time, from Lewes it's not a bad drive 3 1/2 hrs will put you at Lynnhaven Inlet and about 157 miles,I just drove from Lewes to there a week ago and have made the trips many times,we take either Rt 24 or Rt 9 over to 113 south to Rt 50 west, take the by-pass around Salisbury then a straight shot to the CBBT,best of luck it's sure a great place to Fish year round...

3 1/2 hrs to Virginia Beach(Lynnhaven) from Lewes about 160 miles...

Double that without using the Ferry..

I should have said I'll be running the boat down (by sea) to Rudee Inlet and was wondering about time and nautical miles. It would cost to much to rent truck to haul overland

Done it many times before and left CM around 7 am and arrived CBBT around 1:00 pm but averaged about 25-27 knots on the way down. Got to may sure the weather is okay as we have been caught before in some nasty stuff on the way down and it can get ugly. East winds are the worst and most NW winds are okay as you can stay close to the shore and get some protection. There are commerical pots that you have to be aware of also along Eastern Shore on many of the lumps and hills. Try to arrive at the CBBT with wind and tide together if possible as a strong tide against the wind can make it nasty at times when you pass Fisherman's Island to Cape Henry at mouth of the bay. East wind with outgoing tide can make for some ugly conditions at times depending on strength of wind and tide. Good luck.

Great advice Thanks, I'll miss CM but I'm looking forward to the fishing I've heard so much about in VA.
