Hey guys going to be heading down to the Kitty Hawk area the second week in March. Any information on the fishing down there at this time would be much appreciated. I'm guessing there will be rockfish, redfish, puppy drum, trout and some others from what I've read. Also what baits and stuff do you guys use down there? Thanks for the advice in advance.

Google "NC Outerbanks piers."

The pier reports will be valid for surf. If puppy drum are there you can catch them real close, within casting distance of the beach.

Small trout and spot are futher out.

Most of the piers are closed in March. You can call T&W bait and tackle 252-441-4807. they will be able to tell you all that you need to know.

Pirates Cove fishing fleet in Manteo is something you might want to look into.
It's about 30 minutes south of Kitty Hawk

If the water is warm you will catch fish....Sad to say you missed the bass....might find some up north...Your best bet to catch fish is to drive south. Fish the inlet or CH...South Nags Head might have some pups in the wash. If you are a beginer I would stay away from the point it can get a little hairy...Last year in the first week in April I was down there and a guy drove up in a jeep compass and had a 8 foot rod. and throw some bull$%@( baut in the wash...he tangled all the lines on the beach...when a local took out a knife and cut his line....told him in not so nice words GET OUT....But if you can hang that is my fav place to fish....Bait, mulllet. TW's Bait and Tackel, they are nice guys and will set you up proper. NOW LET TALK ABOUT YOU SHOULD DO IN MARCH.........EAT and Drink....Top Resturants.....Tourtugas Bar and Grill, The Rundown, Mamma Qwanns...Have a blast...I own some properties down there. Im there all the time...Hit me up if you have any questions...

Pray for a SW wind and start fishing at the jetties at the lighthouse in Buxton and work your way south down to Ocracoke, where you can end your day with a burger at Howard's, or check out the little Thai place next to the bike rental joint at the right turn in the road before the harbor.
