Once they moved to the other side of the highway with a concrete barrier between them and the guys heading south to the highlands, I figured they wouldn't last. You have to drive a mile past them, make a u-turn,drive a mile to the shop, get on the highway heading north, make another u-turn to head south again. It's a shame, I used to stop there when they were on the southbound side all the time.

I agree, once they moved to the northbound side on Rte 36, it was over. Guy behind the counter was probably the least friendly guy I have ever met, but they otherwise ran a nice shop with quality stuff.
yes sale is on below wholesale prices!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I stopped in there on my way home a few times. Good shop with some top shelf stuff. Not the chattiest people. They also close early so you have to get bait or equipment in the day time hrs. They moved across the street so for me they were a bit out of the way.I buy my bait and ice at julians down the road.I wonder how long before joe packs it in?I always wanted to own my own shop but they are some rough hours if you sell bait.

Yes, they were not the friendliest but they've repaired a few reels for me and always had ballyhoo. I might stop in today for some bargaing shopping.

I hate to see another B&T shop close up. I try and buy something every time I go in one.
I've been in there a few times, the guy was always nice.
I'll have to stop back in.

I have always wondered how guys in the B&T business think they can get away with not being friendly. If a place is friendly I go out of my way to support it, if not I avoid it like the plague. The guy north of T&A has the personality of a shoe and seems to think that he is doing you a favor when you buy something. They need to understand that a little idle chitchat, a smile makes all the difference in the world. I live within casting distance of both of these places and spend thousands of dollars a year on gear. I will drive down to Point Pleasant where I am greeted with a smile and tour of the newest stock.
I refuse to spend money in a place that has a take it or leave it attitude. Its all about customer service to me, without that I'll buy on the internet.

Just my .02 You won't last long if you have some crap to say to everyone that walks in the door. I wish you well in the future but B&T is not your best plan.

went there today and bought some stuff. he lives up to the not too friendly reputation. sale pices are decent on whats left. there isnt really a ton of stuff. i never really went there due to the personality complaints, but they really arent out of the way i would say if they gave good service the location wouldnt be much of an issue. its right at the light, you make the jughandle enter the lot, come back out at the light and make a left. would add maybe 2 min to the ride.

The inconsistent hours is a valid complaint, I got jammed up a few times in the middle of a good bite when I had to shoot up there to get something I needed, and they were closed 1/2 hour early.
A friend used to know one of the owners before they moved across the highway, he was a good guy. But I think he died, and one of the guys left was cool, the other one was a little grumpy. Customer service is everything, sad to see them go.

Hello, how are you doing? Looking for something? Been catching anything? They've been biting at.... Anyone not willing or able to talk to a customer should never go into sales. Being able to talk to someone, communicating to find out what they need or don't know they need is the difference between selling and just taking an order.

The guy was miserable. Sorry to say, but it was coming.
The salty women at Julians that wish us washed into the ocean are not much better, but at least they're cordial.

I come from further up north so I pass like 4 places before I hit T&A, and never stopped there. I go to KMB, helpful and legitimately fresh bait. Plus I like fishing out of Keyport, but again, I'm coming from further north.

I had one experience with T&A. I went there looking for fresh clams, and salesman offered me a sandwich bag of shucked clams. When I told him I was looking for a half bushel of whole clams, he told me that I would have to call in advance.
I went to Keyport.

I'll stick with my reel life, bogans and fishermas supply. I never had any issues in the many years I have been going to all of these.

I remember going to Julians back in the late 60's and early 70's. If I remember right, the women in there were not that friendly then. Had damn good worms though.

GlennSr., you are limit down in the wrong column. Product is a commodity, can bought anywhere @ lower prices day in and day out and worst case on the internet. Try using your take it or leave it attitude and you will go no where in sales.
PS: Fisherman's supply is great. Brian, Ron and Rich Jr. are very helpful and great people. I go there when I can.

I agree-Grumpy's is awesome. They did a hell of a job on three of my reels this winter-WELL worth the trip down to drop off and pick them up.

These guys su---ed Big time. when you walked in that store it was like Tony was doing you a favor?? Allen followed Tonys attitude but didn't know a thing about fishing. As for fixing reels i had 2 penns go back 3 times within 1 week ,still not working.

Stopped in T&A this afternoon. Not much stock left. Picked up some tuna trolling lures at great prices. Picked up a spreader bar, 2 packages of Wiliamson 9" squids, and 2 iland hoo-la hood lures for $50. I don't care how friendly or unfriendly they are. I like bargains.

There are 3 great places to go along the northern part of the Jersey shore:
Grumpys in Seaside (Don't get Tom started or you'll be BSing through the entire tide. :D )
Fishermans Supply in Point. Ron is a true gentleman, great plug selection too.
Skippies in Lawrence Harbor. Skip is, hands down, the nicest guy to ever own a tackle shop. I'll go far out of my way to buy my bait there.
