What brand of bunker spoons do you guys use? Do you modify them in any way . I like the kind that have a swinging hook. Like Joe Julians,Although Wil-arm works well for me.

Secret Spoons, Reliable or TGT are all good ones can't go wrong with any of them however the secret spoon will be #1 with most guys.

Reliable and Montauk work for me with Montauk being the better of the two.

I like the reliables for water under 30 feet and secret spoons over 40 feet. But, I can't wait to try the maja spoon this year. Been hearing great things about them with pictures to back up the talk.

Tony Maja's Bunker Spoons are the best if you want to catch a lot of BIG BASS. I have tried them all and in my opinion, Tony's out perform all others. They have incredible action and are nice and heavy. There are four sizes to choose from. Peanut bunker all the way up to the almost 1LB. Adult Bunker! Not only do I troll these, but I also jig with them with amazing results. It even outperforms live bunker at times, when there is "too much" bunker around. These spoons stand out amongst all the competition. Also, check out his out rodders. More info on his site, www.ezoutrodder.com.

Been using the reliables for years but have to warn you guys about wear factor on the barrel swivel attached to the hook, they wear thin real fast. Lost a real giant on one occasion and also had the replacement hook/swivel break even before it hit the water. It was the hook itself that broke. Upon further inspection of the broken hooks I noticed the steel was very pouris [ lots of air pockets in the material] so inspect on regular basis. This spoons do catch lots of fish.
I use Tony Maja spoons. They have great action. I use them along with the EZoutrodders. I have caught many bass with this setup.

I think I will get a few Tony Maja spoons.I do not want the extra heavy secret spoons for fear of hanging up.I also use wire line.So I wonder how deep they will track with 150 ft. of 40#monel attached to them? They say you can use them with down riggers.Which I do use at times in raritan bay but I always thought you need the rod action to make them dance. The down rigger weight would negate that would it not? But I do like the swinging hook less leverage for the fish to break free. Thanks for the replies guys its getting real close to D-Day for me

Tony's outrodders with the swivel or hinged feature looks great. Never saw one up close, but a racheted variable position feature would be nice for this.
