My absolute favorite way to catch Striped Bass is popping on top! On the Susky Flats each April I eagerly await water temps that consistently top 55 degrees, so I can start throwing topwater. There is nothing like a nice fish EXPLODING on a lure from just a few feet of water. When things are right, you can watch a big fish come up on your offering. We had several nice topwater days last spring. Greg and Don fish with me every year and have gotten really good at drawing strikes with Stillwater Smackits. Here's a few pics from their trip last April:

No monster trophy fish this day, but the guys and I caught over 20 fish from 10 to 20 pounds, all on topwater. We had another 20 blowups, swirls and misses which are fun to watch in their own right. Laughing and joking and casting and popping, the guys left with smiles on their faces and tired arms. Good day.
You want to try it?! Give me a call or shoot me an email. Still a few dates available in April.
