It is just about over for the yellows. They are spawning now and will head backout of the rivers. I started a month and a half ago and we were killing them. Best yellow ned fishing in 35 years

Anyone know why they call them Neds? BTW some of our coastal rivers in Jersey have good runs too.

The YP fishing in the Chesapeake, this year, was the best it has been in 40 years. We have had our shop for 45 and we have never seen it like it was this year.

Like reported above, the Neds are done for this year. Spawning in our area, the upper bay, occurred over the weekend.

It just goes to show that a few restrictions on the commercials can do a lot for the fishery. We can all thank Maryland CCA for the comeback of the Yellow Perch.

Time to fish for Stripers now!

I'm new down here. Just retired and moved down from Jersey and haven't fished for W P since I was a kid in the lagoons behind Beach Haven West. I'm just South of Onancock and wondering if they can be caught from shore in my area? Phil

Most likely. Find a tidal creek, and pound it with grass shrimp on a small hook. 3/4-1 oz sinker. WP's are almost a year round resident in the chessy...

Flutter spoons, and Maraboo jigs also work well.

Even a tiny bobber with about 18" of 4# mono and little silver type jig can score big on the right days.

I have some custom jigs for this type of fishing I bought several years ago that worked very well.
PM me your address and I'll drop a few in the mail to you
BTW:check your PMs when you get a chance
