Caught a 29lber on fresh whole herring . Had one herring taken right at the boat. All I saw was a huge mouth take my bait and was gone.In between fishing with bait caught four 12-14 inchers on bass assassin's.Started getting a little crowded about 12 so I headed home.

Had some luck as well but marked more fish than we caught. Caught a couple mid 20" trolling a crankbait and one trolling a swim bait. Nothing top water, nothing jigging.

Water Temp was 52 degrees on the west side of Elk Neck State Park, warming up fast! Was 44 two days ago.

Fished the flats yesterday with a couple friends, Dave and Tom. Long rodders both. The day started out slow with me catching the one and only really small fish for the day. A 12 incher.
Once I figured out the pattern if you will, it started. We put 60 - 80 fish on the boat by days end. all being 22-24 inchers, all nice, fat, healthy and strong fish. With a couple 26 inchers thrown in. Weather was cool and very variable.
We had a blast with many doubles. Watching the many boats arouund us I'd say the long rodders dominated. We we're catching constantly and I saw no evidence of the same for the others. I love when that happens.
Water temp hit just over 50 and clarity was excellent. Truly a great start to our season.

That is a good day! What time did you get out? I missed the tide, had to work until 4:30 so didn't get out to about 4:45. Fished the outgoing for the second time this week. Hope to catch the incoming Sunday.

They are calling for winds 10 to 20 on sunday. If you stay on the western side of the flats it should not be that bad.
