Went out today on my buddy's bass boat and we worked the Deleware River for a few hours...basically until our arms were noodles!
I'm sure many of you will recognize the locale...15 ft of water on the Jersey side and between 3 of us we caught over 50 Stripers and these were huge COWS! We all kept our limit of 2 each between 20"-26" little guys. The biggest we caught was 44" and and roughly 25 of the fish were between 36"-44". "Something" even snapped my buddy's Tica rod in half!
Unbelievable fun fishing with the city as our backdrop with huge Navy ships around us. Bloodworms were the flavor of choice but they also went for the clams as well.
Here's the Captain with a beauty!

Nice Fish!! Good job letting the breeders go . Some people don't do that, which I don't fault them for at all. But a fishermen should be conscious of the stock.
This time of year with the fish moving up the river "spot" burning is not really an issue. He choose to post this. I can almost guarantee you that this body of fish was the same one that was at Thompson's Beach Friday and in The Fort on Saturday. If this area holds fish through out the year then shame on him. :naughty: But once again it was his choice to report this with the picture.

I would guess it was the wind pushing them... not slack tide. Sea anchor will set you straight.

Hey I'm not blasting the guy, more power to him. Yes stripers are a migratory fish they are always moving, but you know as well as I do that there are certian holes, flats, humps, bridges and other structures up and down this water way that they will frequent more then others on there trek to the spawning grounds. This is obviuoslly one of those "SPOTS". 3,4,or5 fish is one thing, but a blitz like that? I don't know SJB, I guess he's a better man then I. And don't think for a minute that wether they move or not there will still be 200 boats out there this weekend. Tight Lines to you all!!!

#1. My life isn't that boring that I need to bullshit about fishing today for attention.
#2. It's not my spot, I keep my boat in Ventnor & fish the ocean 90%, today was a treat for me on a friends boat.
#3. The limit is 2 fish 20-26", there's plenty to go around.
#4. Consider this a gift from me to you.
We're going out Friday again, see you there.

#2. If it's not your spot, why would you burn it? IMO you just threw a big bullseye on your buddies spot. And I like fishing Ventnor area myself.
#3. Kudos for the release of the big breeders.

Hey Rocky, I've read just about all of your reports and they all go like this, well we headed up to Trenton to catch some herring and came back down the river and caught this, this, and this with some great pics of some really nice fish with no back drops and zero information on any location. I've noticed your very good at it, as well you should be. You've got some good spots and you always post nice pictures. I just don't understand why you would jump in here with a comment like that when your one of the most secretive guys on here. BTW, loved the shot of you steering your boat with your Nikes the day your steering cable broke on you last year.

what are you talking about. i fish this part of the river a lot. yea anyone can get lucky but knowledge is key. knowing where the hole is, is key. ive caught fish there where no one else has. its not spot burning. he didnt give an exact spot. you need to know where and when...

Just lost a lot of respect for nj angler bill. All u guys do is spot burning. All u guys that get all hyped out about spot burning need to get a life. It's fishing man. Nothing more. I don't burn spots, but at the same time, I don't get all amped up either when somebody might burn my spot. If that happens, find another 1, it's only fishing man. If you only have 1 spot that you fish, than you will go home empty most of the time. i am a beach guy so I don't have all the access that you boaters have, and when someone is in my spot, I find another one. This site is getting way tooooo up tight about spot burning, lighten up, it's only fishing! Sorry bout the rant, had to vent:D One othernote, me and my buddy have been catcing bass since march on the river, but have been keeping it to ourselves, and if somebody ascked me where, I would gladly share any info with them. It's a bigggg river.

Sorry, but I really find it funny that Bill from the NJ Angler was the one to remove the pic and edit the post, I cant believe that. After all, if your gonna talk about spot burning then what about a show once upon a time ago that had you guys sitting right under a certain PA/NJ Bridge banging stripers left and right...........?????? WTF?
Now here is the deal, they way I actually feel about it is I really dont care, seeing that if you even have one cell of a brain in your head you can find stripers on the river and the "hot spots" if you just use your eyes while traveling up and down river, not to mention there are some very good charts of the river out there too. I have always said that "spot burning" on the river is not really a problem, because it isnt hard to find the fish, now if were talking back bay, whole different story there.....
Find the boats, find the fishermen, find some structure and bait and your in business. Wish I could have seen the picture.
Mike
oh yea.....thanks for the report, and nice job on the fish Kronix!!

Why remove my pic I posted for "spot burning"
Is it your spot...it's the friggin Deleware River, watch Mike Icconali's show and you'll see the same spot 100 times.
Again, here is the Capt with a beauty!
I guess I'll get banned for choosing to post a pick of where we were fishing?

You guys wait and see the fleet that will be out there now! It does not matter if the fish are on the move or not....Stripers are always one the move anyway! Some areas have the structure that they like to feed or spawn on so you get almost a constant rotation of fish. I agree it was a spot burn and I reported right awawy:eek:.
You guys that don't agree with the no spots I can't wait for one of you to have your spot, wreck ar any other fishing spot overrun by other Anglers and see what it feels like.
I live on the river and fish the spring run I know how it gets burned and its not that big like and ocean. I herring fish for my bait and I know how that gets burned. I hit the DB for spring and fall fishing also....look at the drum fleets! I fish the summer outta of TI inlet and when the Lump or the wrecks produce and it is all over the net there are even bigger fleets.
I will help anyone who sends me a private email but I won't post my spots either.....22,000 on the Barn with 20,000 lurkers!

Kronix, if you get yourself banned, it won't be because you posted a picture. It will be because of your failure to abide by our "No Spot Burning" rule.
This isn't the Mike Icconali show. It's the Bass Barn. And here at the BARN we have rules that each and every one of us are asked to follow.
We know the Delaware river is no secret. The idea behind asking that you don't post specific locations is to prevent 9,000.000 boats from showing up there.
Please DO NOT burn spots with your reports.
