I had to write a little something about my step father Paul, he pass away just before Christmas in 2008 and lost his fight with cancer. With in two months he was gone but i got closer to him in those two months then ever before and we talked about bass fishing as much as we could. He was one of the best beach fisherman i knew, always chaseing the bass in the spring and the fall, this was his time of the year and what he looked forward to. The last time i ever fished with him we fished in starthmere, even though we didnt catch a fish, what a great day, as close to perfect as could be and i took one of the best pictures of him that day. I wish we could do it again this weekend but i guess its not ment to be, he will be with me when ever i go. I tuna fish lots and i made a promise the next 200lb tuna and the next 50lb bass i catch i have to let swim free becasue that was the promise i made to him. Lose drags catchthe biggest bass, bass on PAUL and god bless untill we meet again. AND WATCH OVER ALL OF US INSHORE AND OFFSHOREhttp://www.thebassbarn.com/forum/my pictures

For whatever it's worth.....

My Dad will be gone for 25 years this coming Christmas day.
One of his friends passed this past winter and during one of those picture shows, I saw pictures of my Dad, my Brother and I on the beach fishing for stripers when I was about 8. On every picture, my dad had an incredible grin.

I didn't remember him smiling that much.

Sorry for your loss. Fishing is forever...

Frank

My condolences sir fortunatly I still have my father but I lost my sister aunt 2 uncles and 2 close friends in the past five years and it makes you realiS that the time to spend with the ones you love is now I'm glad to see you were close with him! I fish to free my mind of all other pains and sorrows but as they say life goes on it will never be the same but we all find a way to make it!

Many of the most highly publicized events of my presidency are not nearly as memorable or significant in my life as fishing with my daddy ' pres jimmey carter'
