Thanks to Mikes hard work removing multiple layers of old bottom paint on my 44' Henriques we were able to redo the bottom properly. Mike did a good job at a good price he was cautious and didn't do any damage to the hull. Also he did a good job cleaning up. I would have posted sooner but we have been working on the boat every weekend. We applied Interlux 2000E 5 coats and applied 2 coats of micron 66. I could not be happier with the finished product. Thanks again Mike

Why did you think it needed barrier coat? How old is the boat? Were there any blisters?

Dunk the boat is a 1987. When Mike blasted it he revieled what I thought was a problem with the antifuling not sticking to the bottom. The real problem was a poor aplication of either west epoxy or epiglass put on the gelcoat with a barrier coat. When he blasted the bottom some areas went down to the gelcoat others only went down to the old barrier coat. When we removed the barrier coat the coating undernieth resembled cracked glass. Also on the port side after Mike blasted the boat the old coating that was exposed to the sun was pealing. I only found a dozen or so blisters of wich only 6-7 had water behind them. When I bought the boat 2-years ago the moisture content was 8% or less. Not bad for a boat that was 20 yrs. old at the time. I did however find water between the gelcoat and the first coat of epoxy or resin. What apeared to be cracks is the hull turned out to only be in the coating. We took her down the the origional gelcoat so it should be good to go. Hopefully a little faster a little lighter and a little better on fuel.

Kronix Mike did a boat for a friend a few years back with the same results. I have no complaints with him.

I'm really surprised you found blisters on a 22 yr old Henriques, but I guess you never know till you have them stripped so you can look. Was there any nasty stink to those blisters that had water in them.. Like old rotten fiberglass..?

Dunk the largest one was approx 1/4'' to 5/16'' dia. and only a drop or two came out. The only reason I noticed them was because of the dust on the hull from the sanding they were very shallow. Their was not enough water to notice any odor nor was their any yellow or discoloration. I did drill a few holes in the keel on the portside in a area of past repair and did get some water from this area but only after letting it sit 2 weeks and finaly putting a vacume on it to suck the water out.
