Had a makeup trip with the Paul Chubb Group from Absecon, NJ that I was having a hard time filling, at the last minute John Alan and Oaky from Hackettstown, NJ jump on and we were off. Honestly I had a real good feeling about last night and would have gone with three if I had to.
For the first time in what feels like months we actually had some sun. We pulled away from the dock around two and found bait right away and the guys quickly put 30 or so swimmers in. Made a couple of drifts where we found the bunker but didn't even have a sniff. I decided to get away from the crowd and moved a little south, the bait was acting weird, all tightly balled up so I knew something was going to happen and it did. We had a steady bite for about an hour and a half, boating a releasing close to twenty slobs on both live bait and poppers. The guys kept a few for the table and due to high experience of the crew, my mate Dave and I were able to get in on the action with the poppers, very cool!!
We’ll be back at it tomorrow (sat) and taking a well needed break on Sunday, I have a family function to attend and my wife (the princess) wants to take the boat. So Dave if you’re reading this be ready for an extra good cleaning after Saturday afternoon's trip.;);)
I still have dates open, so if you are interested in getting out, now is the time to do it!!
