Or maybe just a plain old fool! LOL
Well, I'm hooked. Took the skiff up to Monmouth Co. Monday afternoon with my son Timmy(8) and our buddy Skip. Headed North and found bunker right away. They were the happy, flippity kind with no fish on em.
Finally around 8:00pm I saw a blow up on some bunker. I threw a green and white pencil and BAM! it was inhaled by a 30pounder in seconds! It was AWESOME!
Then the ocean seemed to come to a boil with bunker going crazy and large blow-ups happening all around the boat. We were in the middle of a bass blitz. It was a sight to see. I hooked up to another one on the popper and handed it off to Timmy. He handled that large 8 foot rod very well for a little kid. He brought in a nice 25pounder. Then another striper was playing with our snagged bunker, but he managed to inhale it without the snaggin hook.
All this mayhem happened in about 10 minutes time and then it was right back to happy bunker flipping on the top of the ocean. It was remarkable!
What a way to end my Spring striper season- and what a season it was- my best ever.
See you on the tuna and flounder grounds until the Fall run.
