striper regs in NJ in 2004 will probably change, but at this point it's hard to say what will happen. As it stands, we're still fishing under 2003 regs, and there's a good chance that we'll still be under 2003 regs for the spring run, although that can change.

:D good questiion ... But I believe the answer would be no.. due to the fact you are a recreational fisherman and the limit is 2 fish ( on your person), besides if you were to get checked how can you prove that you were out for 2 days ?? it will be hear say and you would probably get fined.. Now if you were commercially fishing the bass the regs would be a little different more in your favor of the above post.. i'm sure someone else will fill you in on more info.. this is just my opinion..

above was posted by Canyon caster You are correct the reg are a little different in the commercial fishing industry . We aren't aloud any, zero, zip, none there is a zero tolerance even if I catch a bass with rod and reel I'm still guilty . Even with the EEZ getting opened it will not effect the Commercial bass fishery in NJ . ;)

Never really thought about it. If you went out at 11pm, caught 2, and after 12am then catch 2 more! :D Sounds good to me.

I dont think the 11pm/12am thing will work because isnt it a 2 fish possession limit (w/o a bonus tag). So whether you fish for 1 day or 6, at any time of day, you can only have 2 fish in your possession.

The question I ask is what if you live near the shore, beach front say, can you go out catch 2, take em home, clean em, and then go out to get 2 more in the same day?

Is it a daily bag limit or a possession limit. There are flaws to either one.

I would imagine that if you were fishing from shore you could have only ne day's limit in your
cooler at a time. You would have to take your
catch home and dispose of to your refrig to be
legal for another day's catch. Same would go for
on a boat "one day only" no matter how long you are out.

as long as I have high tide, I can hit the beach in Villas, and take the catch 1/2 block to the house, lol, go back and fish some more!

otherwise, its a LONG walk over those flats

there was this lady in belmar nj who went across the street from her house and caught six fluke, ran them back to her house, returned to fish for another six and did the same thing. this went on for quite a long time. well one day as she was walking up her sidewalk with her six fish limit the game warden's pulled up  they walked her inside the house and confiscated all the fish in her freezer.im not sure if thew need a warrant like a cop does  She got the book thrown at her!!!!!!!!! it turns out the wardens sat across the bay and watched her with binocular's all day and after her second trip back to the house they had a car waiting just down the street. i often wondered if someone dropped a dime on her or did they just catch her on their own. saw her about a week later without her fishing pole and all she did was MO*^#**%&K those wardens up and down! she felt it was her right to take as many fish as she wanted and that the state has no right to tell her any different. i never did find out how she did in the courtroom.

Here are the answers. If you are checked while you are on the water where you sit defines. Do not catch Jersey legal flatties and then find yourself on the Delaware side of the Bay. Delaware awaits you as their regs are stricter and many a ticket has been issued for undersized, over the limit Flounder. We, "Jersey Tomatoes" have actually been set up by the Delaware State Police. Concerning Stripers (Not Strippers as some people like to call us), We are still permitted 1 fish not less than 24" not greater than 28". Per day. Per Person. And one fish 28 or over. Unless you have the tag which permits an additional fish 28 or greater. The person to whom the tag was issued (along with his ss.#) must be on the boat and claim to have caught the fish. The fish may be caught in any order . You do not need the "slot" first nor later but the tag is used for the 3rd fish, the greater. If you are boarded and your "trophy" tag is still in your envelope and not on the fish you will be fined and your fish will be confiscated. The thing I don't know is if you need a slot in order to use this tag and slots are hard to find these days because they're eating our weakies and becoming trophy fish. When your buddy on your boat has caught and kept his limit he must relinquish!! These laws are per person not per boat. Fish/Game/Wildlife know no time. If other stripers are in the cooler in the trunk of your car and they "land "check you it is all one day to them and you will be fined at top dollar and they will confiscate your fish. I know someone who had this happen to him. So, as we "fisherpeople" sit we are in the money grabbing states. Many states charge a luxury tax on boating. (extra tax on gas, etc.) NJ is one of only three who do not return the tax to any program for boating, fishing etc.. The other two states who do not return....ARE LANDLOCKED! Where's the RFA on this Political Issue???
Thanks for listening.

No, you do not need to catch a slot to use your "bonus card".
The card has to be filled out, punched and signed at the time the fish is caught. It does not have to be on the fish, just filled out. Hard to attach a "bonus card" to a fish. ;)

man, now Im even MORE confused, lol

I know that when you cross the dem mem bridge, you are barely on the bridge when it says state line, well, used to anyway, not sure if it still does, this due to del claiming possession of the river to the low water line on the jersey side

thats a fact!

I wonder tho, where does the jersey line divide the bay proper?

and if you are in a Big Gun sorta boat, and can hammer it faster than the warden, if you make it to NJ waters are you then safe, lol

yeah I know, hot pursuit and all that

Ill fix the bastages

Ill put a cooker on the boat, and cook em up for lunch, fast filet, bones over the side, sizzle it up and eat, lol, what they gonna do, pump yer stomach for evidence????

have a box of thawed cod partially gone JUST IN CASE. chomp down the last bite of striper or have some cod cooked up as a decoy, that way you are full and then you can catch tomorrows dinner, lol
