Went out Wednesday on the flats and the Trout were as thick as tar. Water temp rose to 68 degrees and brought in the bait fish. Put 9 Specks up to 19 inches in the box and a dozen small Bluefish and threw many short Specks back. It looks like everything is gonna turn on now. Going tomorrow with Gentle Ben and hope to slaughter them again.
Life is good as we played golf and I had three pars and two birdies. Oh forgot also had two sevens and a couple of sixes.  Not bad for an old man. Take care, Johnny D.

Dear Old Man:

You gotta love it!
Glad they turned on real good for you. I'm sure you'll show Skippy and Capt. Luigi a great time down there. Remember to catch a few for your nephews up here in iceville.

Way to go JD. Were you guys between Anclote Key and the "Stack" or still by the barrels? I've done real good there and I also like just off Howard Park for trout. Have you gotten into any reds or snook with the temps rising. Those oyster bars right out of the river on the left hold some nice ones especially in the late afternoon when the temps are up and the boat traffic dies down. Anchor up current of the bar and toss a livie toward it and hold on. ;) Good Luck.

Specks. Boy does that bring back memories. I used to fish the Steinhatchee River back in the late eighties before the netters decimated the fishery. Man was that fun fishin putting a live shrimp on under a slip bobber. Sort of like grown up pan fishing. I still love bobbers. Nothing gets the juices flowing like a submerged bobber.
